Justus Mera is a gifted musician and producer hailing from Pennsylvania. Born in 1996 in Kingston Township, Justus grew up in Nanticoke, a small town outside of Wilkes-Barre, where he discovered his passion for music at an early age. At just five years old, Justus began playing the piano, but it wasn't until middle school when he picked up the trumpet that he began formal training. Under the guidance of celebrated educator Mr. Joseph Baronoski, Justus quickly blossomed into a talented musician, earning a spot in the prestigious Performing Arts Institute at Wyoming Seminary Prep School.
During his time at PAI, Justus received extensive training in jazz theory, vocal technique, and instrumental proficiency, studying under some of the world's top musicians, including Rice University graduate Jens Larsen. Justus' talent for improvisation and love for jazz quickly became evident, earning him a reputation as one of the institute's top jazz soloists. After completing the program, Justus won a scholarship to study jazz performance at The University of The Arts in Philadelphia, where he further honed his skills under the tutelage of Matt Gallagher, Josh Lawrence, and John Swana.
In addition to excelling in jazz performance, Justus also learned to DJ, produce, and engineer during his college years. He formed a jazz/neo-soul group called Excursions with his classmates, recording two singles and performing at some of the city's most prestigious venues. In his free time, Justus DJ'd at college parties and private events, working his way up to become a regular DJ at some of Philadelphia's top nightclubs by his junior year.
In 2018, Justus relocated to Las Vegas to pursue his music career, where he quickly made significant strides. Collaborating closely with internet sensation Mr. Hotspot, he served as executive producer and engineer, marking the beginning of his impactful journey. Justus achieved early success with his production of "Dior Body," a breakout hit for artist Jackson Myles, amassing a remarkable 7 million streams across all platforms. His tenure in Vegas also saw fruitful collaborations with top open format DJ Rodney Munnings, contributing multiple tracks and assuming a pivotal role as head engineer at Munnings's studio. Notably, Justus's residency headlining House Arrest, curated by local legend Tnes at CMXX, solidified his burgeoning reputation as a standout talent in the vibrant Las Vegas music scene.
Today, Justus is a highly sought-after artist, performing at some of Vegas' top venues, including OMNIA, Hakkasan, and Intrigue, for both private and public events. In 2019, Justus attended the Billboard Music Awards as an artist, getting to sit with some of the biggest names in the music industry today. With his talent for both jazz and electronic music, as well as his skills as a DJ, producer, and engineer, Justus has established himself as a versatile and innovative artist of the highest caliber.
